Rapid prototyping is the basic manufacturing of a solid model using computer-aided design. A physical model is replicated from a visual model through animation modeling software and additive/subtractive process.

Rapid prototyping services are fast and efficient enabling machines to produce solid models and parts within a few hours allowing designers to inspect on components of the product design and confirmation of interaction of the part or product with other prototypes. Due to differing production needs and a wide range of models, rapid prototyping services offers the perfect solution.

Some of the most common Rapid Prototyping services are

Electron beam melting

This service is tailored explicitly for production of metal parts; the process involves melting of powder in successive layers at a time using an electron beam. It results in strong and solid components that are made with an extreme level of precision.

Electron beam melting has the edge over SLS manufacturing as it does not need extra heat treatment after production and it also produces high-grade and smooth surface finishing’s. The only disadvantage of this service is it operates in a vacuum with limited space which in turn limits the average size of components produced.

Selective laser sintering

Just like SLA, SLS utilizes an additive manufacturing process in the creation of a prototype. The only difference is this service combines elements of ceramic powders, plastics and metals together resulting in a cheaper production process compared to other manufacturing methods. However, the only downside to selective laser sintering is that it takes two or three times longer to produce.

Laminated object manufacturing

It’s an additive fabrication process that utilizes paper as its base material as an alternative to photopolymer. The multiple layers of the paper model are manipulated and treated just like wood. It’s an economical process due to the availability of raw materials

Fused Deposition Modeling

This method of production creates prototypes using an additive manufacturing process specifically within the product/part engineering design. Its technology is used to manufacture a wide range of materials such as waxes, water-soluble material, polycarbonates. Its prototypes are truly impressive as they can be used for testing and they are heat resistant creating the perfect prototype.

Vacuum casting

Vacuum casting is an economical and effective way of high-grade manufacturing prototypes in small quantities. Products are manufactured using affordable polymers that need minimal post-processing treatments.

Solid models and parts produced by this rapid prototyping service are long-lasting, detailed and accurate. This process is also essential as it is used for design demos, prototype testing, and sampling. Vacuum casting is cost-effective for saving a lot of money and time during the production process.
